The Sazerac Bar (130 Roosevelt Way in The Roosevelt Hotel) Take a sip of history, as the bar is rolling out its Sazerac 125 cocktail. If you want to taste it, be warned, it will cost you. The drink will put you back $125. This is a fun way to explore the history of the famed cocktail in their in-house bar. This special deal is put in place as the Sazerac Bar is celebrating its 125th anniversary. Why so expensive, you may ask? It includes a rare, specialty whisky called Thomas Handy Rye. It’s named after the New Orleans bartender who was the first to use rye whiskey in the Sazerac cocktails. Uncut and unfiltered, the straight rye whiskey is bottled directly from the barrel with a nod into the timeless history of New Orleans libations. This special runs through July, or until the Thomas Handy Rye runs out. Get in on this experience as its sure to be great.
Effervescence (1036 Rampart St.) Big Wednesday celebrations start at 4 p.m. Effervescence features a unique magnum bottle of champagne and offers by-the-glass pours of the rare, coveted bottles until they run out! How fun is this, right? So, every "hump day" bartenders will pour selections from rotating magnum bottles of champagne. Prices may vary depending on the weeks selection. This is a bubbly fun experience.
The Ritz Carlton Hotel (921 Canal St.) is offering Mudbugs and Bubbles: A spectacular celebration off all things champagne and crawfish. The featured champagne is, Veuve Clicquot Rose. Enjoy all you can eat crawfish and unlimited Veuve Clicquot Rose in the hotel’s courtyard. The “crawfish concierge” will be on hand for private instruction on the best techniques for boiling and peeling. This experience will cost you $150 per person and reservations are required. The first fun event runs April 6. mark you calendars and make sure not to miss these fun times as they last.
