When it comes to color, the Pantone Color Institute is second to none. Based on trends from fashion and home decor, and even the overall energy in the world, the organization chooses a color to represent the coming year.
While we usually enjoy the color Pantone chooses each year, the 2025 color of the year “Mocha Mousse” has to be one of our favorites. This chocolatey hue is a warm, chic color that feels like an indulgence, which was echoed by Laurie Pressman, the institute’s vice president.
“For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others,” said Pressman.
Continuing the same sentiment, Pantone’s Executive Director Leatrice Wiseman noted its level of sophistication as well.
“Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic,” said Wiseman. “PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”
The thought of this rich hue incorporated in different aspects of a wedding definitely feels luxurious.
We envision this rich brown as an accent color used in combination with muted rose-colored hues and creams for a modern museum wedding or as a backup to blues, greens and even purples.
