Paper Prayers for Research

The 25th anniversary of the “Art Against AIDS Art Auction and Holiday Gala” took place Saturday, December 3, at the New Orleans Museum of Art. The event’s proceeds went toward benefiting the NO/AIDS Task Force.

The highlight of the night was the silent auction that included an array of artwork by local artists. New to this year’s occasion, the “Art Against AIDS” gala featured “Paper Prayers,” a Japanese-inspired art form that displays various prayers on painted pieces of paper. Artists, students and local celebrities collaborated to create the event’s “Paper Prayers.”

The gala also featured food from various local restaurants, live musical entertainment and a disco for guests interested in showing off their best dance moves.

The NO/AIDS Task Force, a New Orleans-based nonprofit organization, is the largest of its kind in the Gulf South and has been serving the community for over 28 years. The NO/AIDS Task Force has been assisting those most affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic through providing a variety of services such as a telephone hotline, street outreach, support groups and medical care.
