NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Parkway Bakery & Tavern is once again uniting with the Al Copeland Foundation (ACF), joined by fiery support from Crystal Hot Sauce, to save lives and end cancer. Commencing November 1st and available every Wednesday in November, Parkway will proudly serve its renowned Thanksgiving Poor Boy, brimming with roasted turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce as part of the annual #IDidItForTheTurkey fundraiser.
For loyal local enthusiasts who wish to support this cause, a $100 ticket is your pass to skip the line between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The “Skip the Line” ticket not only allows you to indulge in the Thanksgiving Poor Boy, but also includes a commemorative t-shirt, sweet potato fries, fresh-made lemonade crafted by the talented Joshua Bertuglia, an ACF Junior Board Member, and a specially made pumpkin spice ice cream sandwich by New Orleans Ice Cream to round off your holiday feast. Tickets can be purchased conveniently at AlCopelandFoundation.org or in person every Wednesday at Parkway Bakery & Tavern, where the Al Copeland Foundation tent is set up. In the spirit of giving, a portion of the sales from buying the Thanksgiving Poor Boy without skipping the line also goes to the Al Copeland Foundation, ensuring that every patron can contribute to this essential cause.
Since 2008, the Al Copeland Foundation (ACF) has rallied support for a remarkable cause, raising over $2.3 million with one unwavering mission to save lives and end cancer with innovative cancer treatments. In under a decade, the foundation along with LSU Health and Science Center (LSUHSC) accomplished its main purpose which was to find a cure for the cancer that took Al Copeland Sr.’s life. More recently, ACF and LSUHSC received national recognition for their virtual clinical trial access program which provides accessibility through telehealth medicine. ACF continues to support providing access, awareness, and education to the latest cancer treatments for all age groups.
Justin Kennedy, General Manager, and Head Chef at Parkway Bakery & Tavern, is delighted to renew this partnership and welcome Crystal Hot Sauce to the Parkway Thanksgiving team. He shares, “Supporting one another is a hallmark of New Orleans, and we extend a warm invitation to all to enjoy this special time of the year. The #IDidItForTheTurkey campaign champions a truly vital cause and is now bigger and better thanks to support from our friends at Crystal Hot Sauce.“
“I am deeply grateful for Justin making the Al Copeland Foundation a part of this one-of-a-kind Thanksgiving Poor Boy tradition,” said Al Copeland Jr., president of the Al Copeland Foundation. “When it comes to crafting exceptional poor boys no one does it quite like Parkway Bakery and Tavern.“
This is the first year that Crystal Hot Sauce, the renowned Louisiana hot sauce legend, has pledged its support for this charitable initiative, bringing its passion for bold flavors to the table.
