Party Like an Animal

Robert Kerrigan’s barnyard birthday.

All Robert Kerrigan wanted on his fourth birthday was a barnyard-themed birthday with all of his friends and the most loving animals in the whole wide world. So his mom Wendy called Zoo-To-U and booked them to come to the party with their animal entourage: goats, pigs, turtles, rabbits, an alligator with his mouth safely taped, chickens and even a horse for him and all of his friends to ride. The party was at grandparents Kay and Bobby Kerrigan’s; about 50 guests were in attendance. They chose a Saturday at 10 a.m., and had tables bedecked with white and red checkered tablecloths from Perrier. Sunflowers in baskets graced each table with balloons from Balloons Unlimited tied to the baskets for decoration. Each table had carrots, strawberries, blueberries, biscuits, lemonade, iced tea and cakes.

Jefferson Feed delivered the hay and Wendy ordered a barn online that she personalized with Robert’s name and a favorite tractor. The Stationer designed the invitations, which encouraged all guests to wear Western attire, and bandannas and Western hats were given as favors to guests. Haydel’s was commissioned to do the adorable cake, which was complete with barn and cows! Robert got to ride on the horse first, followed by his big brother Thomas, pictured on the next page holding a turtle. What fun for everyone!
