NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Peacock Room – the energetic and vibrant cocktail bar located at the heart of Kimpton Hotel Fontenot in New Orleans’ Central Business District – will welcome some of the city’s beloved artists for performances throughout the month of February, giving hotel guests and locals alike ample opportunities to experience amazing music in this beautiful space. And as always, Happy Hour is a great time to stop in at Peacock Room every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 3-6 p.m. for drink specials.
Da Lovebirds, led by contemporary jazz singer and “the Songbird of New Orleans,” Robin Barnes, will continue their popular residency, filling the room with stunning songs every Thursday from 8 to 10 p.m. Romance will continue to hang in the air on Sunday evenings in February, from 7 to 9 p.m., with the gorgeous music of singer and musician Rachel Murray.
Sundays also mean it’s time for Jazz Brunch at Peacock Room, and talented trumpeter Jelani Bauman does not disappoint. The New Orleans-native comes from an impressive lineage of musicians spanning five generations, and among his many accomplishments (including performing at Madison Square Garden), are playing with Rihanna, Ravi Coltrane, Ellis Marsalis, Robin Eubanks, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and more. Jazz Brunch runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Peacock Room will host a number of other unique pop-ups and events this month. In addition to the special Valentine’s Day event at Peacock Room on February 14 with complimentary fortune teller lip readings, scratchers, music from Da Lovebirds and a special menu prepared by Executive Chef Chris Lusk, there will also be a great reason to grab your pals and head to Peacock the day before for Galentine’s Day Brunch. On Sunday, February 13 Galentine’s Day Brunch and Jazz Brunch will collide for a special event 10 a.m.-3 p.m., which you can reserve your spot for through OpenTable here. Later in the evening, Rachel Murray will perform.
Music, and jazz especially, is infused within the soul of Kimpton Hotel Fontenot. You hear it in the lobby. You see it represented in the artwork adorning the walls, from the hand-painted violins to a composition of trumpet and trombone mutes as an homage to King Oliver and Louis Armstrong. And of course, there’s the hotel’s ongoing partnership with The Roots of Music, which empowers the youth of the city through music, support and mentorship.
Peacock Room’s vivid colors, ornate patterns and rich textures set the perfect mood for a musical evening (or brunch). While experiencing some of the city’s best musicians, guests can also enjoy a contemporary selection of exceptional, hard-to-come-by spirits and evocative craft cocktails, such as The Royal Court, which is made with Grey Goose Vodka, ginger, grapefruit, ube, and vanilla; or the Four Armed Tea Rex, which serves 4 and is made with Hendrick’s Gin, Träkál, loquat, tulsi tea, whey, and citrus. And for those who come hungry, Executive Chef Chris Lusk’s menu features refined shareable interpretations of regional classics, including items like Crawtator Crusted Oysters with jalapeno sriracha, mirliton, and bacon lardon; the ever-popular Peacock Burger and the Twice Baked Bread Pudding. Newer menu items include Steak a la Plancha with twice baked potatoes, mushroom, and hot sauce chimichurri and the Shrimp Shumai Ravioli with fermented black bean, dried andouille, and hot & sour sauce.
Lounge seating is available, and space for these performances will be available on a first come, first served basis. Dining reservations are encouraged through OpenTable here.
