Picnic Provisions & Whiskey Grants Full Scholarship To NOCHI

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Picnic Provisions & Whiskey is living out their mission to support and mentor members of the culinary community by granting a full scholarship to the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI).

Picnic Provisions & Whiskey Partners Ti Martin, Darryl Reginelli and Tory McPhail, together with the whole staff of Picnic, presented the scholarship to Ross Garfield in a special ceremony at the restaurant on June 7.

Ross, a line cook at Picnic Provisions & Whiskey, will be the very first recipient of what Picnic Provisions & Whiskey plans to make an annual grant to one of their employees to attend NOCHI.

Ross said that after completing his degree in architecture from Tulane he began spending more and more time cooking and realized that the kitchen was his true home.

Ross will be a part of NOCHI’s Fall 2019 cohort, beginning July 22. He will be working toward a certificate in Culinary Arts in the cohort that will graduate in December. The scholarship funds will pay for Ross’ full tuition at NOCHI.

“A big part of Picnic’s mission is mentoring and industry development, and we are so honored to be able to give out our first scholarship,” said Partner Ti Adelaide Martin.

Requirements for the NOCHI scholarship through Picnic Provisions & Whiskey include letters of recommendation and employment with the restaurant and the grantors are looking for individuals who have a true passion for the culinary industry who want to make it their career.

The staff at Picnic Provisions & Whiskey invites anyone who wants to be a mentor to use Picnic as their meeting place. Please come and your ice tea is free.
