Attendees of the Fourth Annual PhotoNOLA fundraiser on December 10, PhotoGALA, were treated to several forms of entertainment: a live auction of contemporary photography, music by the Panorama Jazz Band and even a burlesque performance by local troupe Fleur de Tease. All this revelry at the New Orleans Museum of Art benefited the
New Orleans Photo Alliance, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to engender photographyappreciation.

The auction featured works by such prominent artists as Julie Blackmon, Phil Borges, David Burnett, Susan Burnstine, David Halliday and many others. The event also featured Abita Christmas Ale provided by Abita Brewery, an assortment of breads from La Boulangerie, grilled ham and chicken liver tea sandwiches from Fat Hen Grill, gelato from La Divina Gelateria, smoked pork with roasted corn cheese grits from Squeal BBQ, coffee from Zotz Café and much more.

Several awards were presented to distinguished guests, including the 2008-’09 President’s Award to
Mark Sindler, the 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award to Lori Waselchuk and the Michael P. Smith Grant for Documentary Photography to Jonathan Traviesa. Gala Chair Zack Smith was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
