NEW ORLEANS (press release) – This Summer, Dolfy’s owners, Chef Adolfo Garcia Jr. and Sophia Petrou, are opening the restaurant on one of its normally closed days to bring some nostalgia to the neighborhood with Pizza Mondays, happening every Monday this summer until Aug. 31, from 5 to 9 p.m.
The team shares that this weekly special pays tribute to a family legacy deeply rooted in the neighborhood. Long before Dolfy’s opened its doors, the very same location was home to Ancora Pizzeria, owned and operated by Garcia’s father. For years, Ancora served as a gathering place for families, friends, and pizza lovers throughout the community.
Now, Dolfy’s is bringing pizza back to the address where it all began.
“Pizza has always been part of our family’s story,” said Garcia Jr. “Growing up, I watched my father build a community around great food in this very space. Bringing pizza back, even for one night a week, is our way of celebrating that history and paying tribute to everything Ancora Pizzeria meant to the neighborhood.”
Pizza Mondays will feature handcrafted sourdough-crust pizzas inspired by the flavors and traditions that made Ancora a local favorite. Offerings, ranging from $15–$17, will include a classic Margherita with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil; a Spicy Pepperoni topped with chili flakes and hot honey; and a Puttanesca featuring oregano, shaved garlic, black olives, capers, anchovies, and piparra peppers. Guests can also enjoy featured pours of Rosé and Pinot Noir for $15 and Michelob Ultra for $5.
