Brian Kern is the sales and operations director for Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World, and captain of the Krewe of Boo. Brian's father, Blaine Kern, started the Krewe of Boo in 2008, in part as a fundraiser for first responders who were still reeling as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Although the parade did not roll in 2011 and 2012, the 2013 Krewe of Boo has returned with a distinctly local flair. Elmer's Candy, Aunt Sally's Pralines, PJ's Coffee and Bruce Foods are just a few of the popular local sponsors that will be supplying their signature products as special throws. The parade on Saturday, Oct. 26, will feature 13 floats and include great local marching groups such as the 610 Stompers, the Bearded Oysters, the Camel Toe Lady Steppers and the Dragons. In this podcast, Brian describes the unique, made-in-New Orleans parade throws and talks about Spookfest, the festive after-party costume bash at Mardi Gras World.
