We recently asked local CPA and bride-to-be Kemberley Washington to share her top tips when it comes to tackling finances pre-wedding or as a newlywed couple. Following up with her financial tips, Washington shared with us that she made a checklist for brides specifically – what she calls “Financial Moves to Make After saying I Do.” The list includes a reminder to review employee benefits and change name with employer and other payers.
Additionally, Washington used her regular WDSU spot to highlight how getting married can impact your taxes – including a note that says if you’re married by Dec. 31, the IRS considers you married for a full year.
More from Washington on her financial tips here.
