By combining gospel music and the culinary traditions of New Orleans, the Girls and Boys Town of Louisiana’s fund-raising brunch was satisfying to the palate and the spirit. Held on Aug. 18 at the Ormond Country Club, the event featured a home-style Southern buffet and the gospel sounds of Minister Gordon Taylor and the St. Matthew Baptist Church Choir (of New Sarpy), Dr. Daniel Ajemeseba, Minister Emerson Chapman and the Chapman Family (of Destrehan) and an audience of individuals and families who showed support and compassion for the organization and its children.

The event—themed “Hope and Healing for Children”—introduced Girls and Boys Town of Louisiana to the River Parish Community and St. Charles Parish Public Schools System. Girls and Boys Town of Louisiana is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing a family-style environment while teaching children skills for the future and helping families maintain a safe and healthy home.
