Inspiration for “Let Them Eat Cake” comes in many forms. An entity always helping to keep us in the loop is our local New Orleans Tidbits. Tidbits is an online entity that, according to its website, “is the essential tool for the style-conscious modern woman.”
New Orleans is one of the luck cities to have its very own Tidbits newsletter with locally-owned products, stores and artists – to name a few – delivered right to our inboxes.
This week, Tidbits New Orleans highlighted local artist Lyla Clayre and her gorgeous watercolor paintings. We were intrigued because the email put a spotlight on the artist’s paintings turned into wrapping paper.
Wrapping paper may seem an odd pick for a bridal blog, but just think about all of the presents and gifts that need wrapping during an engagement period and beyond. The most exciting options are Clayre’s “Doors of New Orleans” and “Swamp Triptych” gift wrap rolls – which only cost $10.
But something else caught our eye while perusing the artist’s website. Clayre offers custom commissions for wedding and other event invitations. Starting at $500, couples can request an originally created piece specifically for their Big Day – or any wedding event in between.
Though many already save their wedding invitations, these custom pieces could also double as a piece of artwork displayed in your home for years to come.
Clayre’s website also has prints, original pieces and stationery for sale.
