On Feb. 26, the Junior League of New Orleans hosted the “Legends & Lagniappe Gala” at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans. The gala, which included a patron party, honored the membership of the JLNO and the organization’s 80-plus years of service and commitment to the community. During the gala, the Sustainer of the Year was announced. This year’s recipient was Margie Villere.
According to event co-chair Veronica Koclanes, “We consider the event a phenomenal success. It appeared that everyone had a great time, regardless of age. For the sustainers, it had a reunion type feel. For the current membership, it was fun to get together in a social capacity with our spouses.”
More than 500 people attended this gala that featured delicacies provided by some favorite New Orleans restaurants including Arnaud’s, Peristyle, Bayona, La Côte Brasserie and Red Fish Grill, just to name a few. The “Legends Martini” was the desired cocktail for the evening—a blue martini featuring Level Vodka. Bobby Cure & the Summertime Blues kept people entertained while they weren’t browsing over the 700 auction items secured by the ladies of the Junior League.
Today, the JLNO is the 10th largest of the Junior Leagues with more than 2,000 members. All proceeds from the gala went to benefit the JLNO’s ten children’s education-oriented projects. •
