Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans had reason to celebrate on Friday, November 12: The five “Rising Stars” of 2010 were honored for their up-and-coming entrepreneurial presences in the city, as well as their moral and ethical standards in business practice.
The celebration began at 6 p.m. with a reception for the honorees at the Junior League Training Center, followed by the main event – the City Stars Soirée – from 7 to 11 p.m. at Junior Achievement on Orleans Avenue. The evening included entertainment from the Bucktown All-Stars as well as food from local eateries such as The Grill Room, Vega Tapas, Whole Foods Market, Mandina’s, Mondo and more.
This year’s honorees are: Kurt D. Buchert, founder & CEO of GreenBean Foam Insulation, LLC; McKenzie Coco, founder of FSC Interactive, LLC; John Harris, chef and owner of Lilette; Nicolas R. Perkin co-founder and president of The New Orleans Exchange, Inc.; and Matthew G. Schwartz, principal and co-founder of Domain Companies of LA.
