Reach for the Stars

Junior Achievement recognizes the Rising Stars of 2010.

Entrepreneurship at its most philanthropic was honored on Friday, November 7, 2008, when Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans bestowed five well-deserved awards at its fifth annual City Stars Soirée. Held at the newly renovated Capstone Education Center on Delgado Community College’s City Park Campus, the former Exchange City building hosted those Rising Stars who’ve given back the most to the city, and demonstrated good business and enterprise in recent years. The Rising Stars included Kenneth Purcell, president and CEO of iSeatz; NOLA 180’s founder John Alford; MPress President Ashley Abbott; Robby Moss of Hartwig Moss Insurance Agency; and Turbo Squid CEO Matthew Wisdom. They also inducted new members into their Business Hall of Fame, joining a legion of other Laureates who JA has been inducting since 1984. Also present were Event Chair Lee Anne Sciambra, Vice Chair Kristen Ponthier and board members Todd Matherne, Carla Adams, Ricky Green, Ryan Berg, Chris Casey and Mason Couvillon. For years, Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans has strived to better the young of our community through outreach programs and workforce development, which prepares them for successful business practices and community fulfillment later in life.
