NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Chef de Cuisine Jared Heider is kicking off Gianna Restaurant’s summer dinner series with a celebration of Italian American classics at a special Red Gravy Dinner on Wednesday, May 31. Each of the four courses at the family-style dinner will be accompanied by Italian table wines. “Here in Louisiana, we call Italian American tomato sauce ‘red gravy,’” said Heider. “So, we thought it would be fun to put together a meal of some of those red gravy favorites to share in a family-style setting.” The dinner begins at 7 p.m. and is $120 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are limited.
The special menu starts with an antipasto course of Caprese Salad, Fried Calamari, and Sausage & Peppers. The primi course includes Rigatoni Alla Vodka and Stuffed Shells. The secondi course consists of Chicken Parmesan, Veal Piccata, Pasta Bordelaise, and Sauteed Broccoli Rabe. The dolce course includes sweets by Pastry Chef Maggie Scales.
