Lady Catherine Reiss and Christopher “Chip” James Fuller’s relationship sounds like it’s straight out of the movies. The two were introduced by mutual friends on a dock on the west shore of Lake Tahoe during Fourth of July festivities. They remained friends until they saw each other several months later at a Rolling Stones concert. After reconnecting to the rock ballads of Mick Jagger, they began dating exclusively. A year and a half later, the couple was engaged. Chip proposed to Lady on top of Bear Creek Falls in Telluride, Colo. during the annual Telluride Blue Grass Festival. He presented her with a simple round cut 2.5 ct diamond on a platinum band. How could she say no?
The wedding was held on June 28, 2008 in Aspen. Lady and Chip thought it would be the perfect location because it celebrated their love of the outdoors
and Colorado. Lady’s parents travel between Aspen and New Orleans
throughout the year, so a small reception at her family’s home fit perfectly for
the mountain-loving pair.
Lady and Chip said “I do” in a simple ceremony celebrated at a church that dates back to the 1800s in the West End of Aspen. Lady walked down the aisle in a
gorgeous non-traditional empire-waisted column gown with intricate beading by Reem Acra. Her bridesmaids wore textured gold knee-length gowns from Melissa Sweet by Priscilla of Boston. As a special treat, Lady and Chip also had Charlie, their one-and-a-half-year-old Bernese Mountain dog walk down the aisle and stand in the wedding party.
Following the ceremony, guests retreated to Lady’s parent’s home, which was
transformed into a Moroccan-themed paradise, featuring an outdoor tent decorated with orange and salmon drapes that flowed from the ceiling.
Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner catered by Crave of Aspen and loved the extra
features: an oxygen bar, a cheese and port bar and a tequila bar, which served rare tequilas in shot glasses made of ice. The tent backed the bar up to a cliff and guests enjoyed taking shots and throwing the ice glasses over the edge.
The newlyweds danced their first dance to Lyle Lovett’s “She’s No Lady,” and Lady danced with her dad to James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You).”
Near the end of the evening, the bride and groom cut into their multi-tiered
classic white cake, decorated with green Aspen leaves created by Classic Cakes of Aspen. As a special surprise for Chip, who’s a huge music lover, Lady had his groom’s cake created into a replica of a ticket from the first concert he ever went to: Journey in 1982 at Madison Square Garden.
The couple spent their first night together as husband and wife at Little Nell Hotel in Aspen, but not before the police shut down the reception due to noise complaints!
They couple is honeymooning this month to India and the Maldives. They will reside in San Francisco, where Lady is the founder and president of The Blues Jean Bar, Corp. and Chip is a vice president at Catlin Properties.
