Victor Smeltz is Executive Director of Renaissance Neighborhood Development Corporation (RNDC). Founded in 2006, the RNDC is a collaboration between Volunteers of America National Services and Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans. Victor explains that the RNDC was formed specifically to replace work force rental housing that Hurricane Katrina had destroyed. The RNDC currently has approximately 750 completed units, with about 300 more in development. According to Victor: "Where we really get our highest gratitude is from seeing the reactions of the people…'cause that's what we really want to do, is make a difference in people's lives". In this podcast, Victor shares his experiences helping people come back home to New Orleans and returning to the neighborhoods they love.
