On Wednesday, October 14, Saks Fifth Avenue at the Shops at Canal Place filled all three floors with live music, flavorful hors d’oeuvres and libations and more than 1,000 patrons for the annual “Saks Fifth Avenue New Orleans Key to the Cure” benefit.

Event Co-Chairs were: Carolyn Elder, Chris Fransen, James Mounger, Anne Redd, Julie Wise Oreck and Susan Wormser. The Fabulous Under 40 Co-Chairs were: Meaghan Bonavita, Lauren Ryan, Margaret Villere and Mary Wyatt Milano.

Caterers that participated in the kick-off event were: Cure Co., Carrollton Market, Sylvain, Celebrate by Windsor Court, Fulton Alley, Legacy Kitchen, Arnaud's, The Green Bar at The Westin, New Orleans Canal Place, Galatoire's Restaurant, Broussard's Restaurant, Araña Taquería Y Cantina, LePavillon's Crystal Ballroom, The Fountain Lounge – The Roosevelt New Orleans Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Mandina's Restaurant, Salú Small Plates & Wine Bar, Kingfish Kitchen & Cocktails, Sprout and Press, Houston's Restaurant, Pigéon Caterers, Odi's – Moises Delicacies, Inc., ManhattanJack, Kosher Cajun NY Deli and Grocery, Maple Street Patisserie, Maurice French Pastries and Barbara Baggert Creations. Republic National Distributing Company provided libations.

The music line up included The Uptown Music Theatre positioned at the store entrance; the Merengue 4-Four on the first floor; Mike Soulman Baptiste and the New Orleans Mystics on the second floor; and the Wendell Brunious Trio on the third floor.

From Thursday, October 15, through Sunday, October 18, Saks Fifth Avenue New Orleans donated 2 percent of sales to the cancer research programs of the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium. Over the past 14 years, the New Orleans event has generated over $1,650,000 locally, every penny of which went into cancer research in Louisiana.
