Specializing in custom kitchen and bath granite and marble countertops, Signature Granite and Marble opened in February of this year. Randy Roberts Sr., who co-owns the company with Phil Ray, says he began working in the industry when he was a senior in high school. “I quickly learned that I was very intrigued with the world of stone, and I had the desire to learn all there is about the field.” Roberts says he decided to go the extra step to pursue his passion and now enjoys being a business owner. He says: “I love designing new and unique ideas for my clients’ homes. We take great pleasure in seeing our clients smile when the job is done.”
What sort of clientele do you reach?
We strive to make granite affordable for everyone of every income.
What’s the first thing you discuss with a client?
We discuss exactly what the customer is looking for: Is it a new construction home or a remodel? What colors are they looking for? What would we be putting granite in –– kitchen or bath? We try to establish a personal, friendly relationship with every customer. We try to make them comfortable the minute they walk through our door.
What are some trends in the industry?
Many customers are looking for something different and new. Our exotic collections have become quite popular because of color variations and veining. Lately, customers are interested in the natural beauty that different stones have to offer.
How is your store different –– and better –– than a competitor?
We are 100 percent family-owned and -operated, and we’re dedicated to our customers’ satisfaction and quality in their homes. We visit every job completed to assure that the customers are happy with their investments.
