NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Revel on Royal, an evening of live entertainment, exhibitions, dining, shopping, music and revelry, will take over the historic New Orleans thoroughfare on Friday, Oct. 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This special celebration, which is free and open to the public, is intended to support local businesses and encourage visitors to patronize the galleries, boutiques and restaurants along historic Royal Street in the heart of the French Quarter.
More than 40+ galleries, shops, restaurants and other venues will open their doors to guests and invite them to enjoy street performances, live music, new gallery exhibits and to take advantage of special discounts and more.
Bill Rau, the owner of the iconic M.S. Rau at 622 Royal Street, has taken the initiative to spearhead the re-opening celebration. He and his team have been encouraging local purveyors and businesses to participate and supporting Revel on Royal through advertising, press outreach and social media initiatives.
“This has been an extremely difficult time for the entire community, especially small businesses who are struggling to stay afloat,” said Rau, whose family has had its fine art and antiques’ business on Royal Street for over a century. “Revel on Royal is in fact a celebration of the resilience of New Orleans. We want to invite the public for a special evening so that they can re-discover what makes Royal Street so very special.”
During the celebration, M.S. Rau will host a special opening night party for its new gallery collection titled Time Across Time: Clocks and the Art of Timekeeping. The installation is free and open to the public and will be on display in the gallery and available for viewing virtually through Nov. 21, 2020.
All precautions based on current guidelines from the City of New Orleans will be in place to ensure a safe evening, with masks and social distancing required based on current guidelines from the City of New Orleans.
