NEW ORLEANS (press release) – British-born, American funk and R&B musician Jon Cleary will appear in a solo concert on Friday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m., at The Historic BK House & Gardens. The accomplished pianist, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter, will perform from 6-9 p.m. in the beautifully manicured BK House Parterre Garden, 1113 Chartres St. at Ursulines.
Cleary’s performance, presented in part by NOLA x NOLA, will be the start of the popular spring Rhythm & Roses series that’s premiering this fall with Friday night concerts featuring popular New Orleans talents. Future dates include:

Oct. 18: Helen Gillet and Rebelle Musique
Oct. 25: Dusky Waters & Rachel Maxann
Nov. 3: Jelly Joseph
Tickets are priced at $30 for nonmembers and $25 for BK members and are available at www.bkhouse.org. Chef Etienne Devlin of The Honfleur NOLA will offer New Orleans food fare for purchase and beverages will be sold to support on-going maintenance of the garden. Outside beverages will be prohibited
Concert-goers are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance due to anticipated popularity of the event and size of the historic setting. Limited seating will be provided; however, attendees may bring small chairs provided space allows. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. concerts, made possible by the support of neighbor/benefactor James Douglas Hislop.
The annual BK House Soiree in the Vieux Carre’ will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29. The fundraiser will be held from 5-8 p.m., featuring John Boutte in the Courtyard and Amber Rachelle & the Sweet Potatoes in the Parterre Garden and a delicious Sunday Supper by 12 Seasons Catering & Events. Co-chaired by Sarah & Marshall Hevron and Carroll Gelderman Zimmer & Emory Zimmer, proceeds from the festive event will support major restorations to interior plaster and masonry, as well as the BK Endowment Fund. Tickets start at $125, with various levels available for individuals and sponsors, and may be purchased at www.bkhouse.org.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, BK House will host Quarter Kaleidoscope, a French Quarter storytelling event in collaboration with VCPORA. Moving into November, there will be a premiere of a film produced by The Louisiana Architectural Foundation, entitled, “Ancestral Artistry” on Nov. 7, singer/songwriter Teena May in Concert on Nov. 10, and a Lecture with TR Johnson, author of New Orleans, A Literary History, on Nov. 20.
A Wine Tasting with Bubbles follows on Dec. 12, along with a Big Easy Boys Christmas Concert on December 15. BK House will also join neighboring French Quarter Museums for a Creole Christmas Tour Dec. 27-29.
