NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Higgins Hotel & Conference Center, The Official Hotel of The National WWII Museum, and one of its signature restaurants – Rosie’s on the Roof – unveils its new “Rosie the Riveter” cocktail.
Rooted in a shared mission with The National WWII Museum, the Higgins Hotel is dedicated to recounting the American experience in the pivotal war that shaped the world. By delving into why it was fought, how victory was achieved, and its enduring significance today, the hotel and museum aim to ensure that every generation comprehends the true cost of freedom and finds inspiration in the lessons learned.
Up at Rosie’s on the Roof, a rooftop bar nestled in the heart of New Orleans and designed to honor the legacy of hard-working women on the Home Front, a new cocktail experience awaits. Amidst panoramic views of the Museum and the New Orleans skyline, guests are invited to indulge in the quintessential craft cocktail – The Rosie the Riveter. While “The Riveter” has been a staple of the restaurant since opening, the newest version was developed after an internal cocktail competition among the group of expert mixologist currently working at the Higgins Hotel.
“The ‘Rosie the Riveter’ isn’t just a drink, as it always has been…it’s an experience,” said Higgins Hotel and Conference Center General Manager Daniel Rhodes. “This newest version of the cocktail is crafted with precision and pays homage to the iconic Rosie and her fellow riveters.”
Served in a vintage 1.5 quart (42 oz.) canteen, reminiscent of those carried by Rosie and her compatriots during their tireless work, this cocktail is meant to be shared between two, fostering camaraderie and celebration. The cocktail is a fusion of flavors designed to tantalize the taste buds including gold rum, coconut rum, a hint of absinthe, saffron-infused essence, mango puree, tiki bitters, and a vibrant blend of grapefruit and lime juices. Each element is carefully curated to deliver a refreshing and unforgettable drinking experience.
“Rosie’s on the Roof aims to create more than just a place to sip cocktails—it’s a tribute to the indomitable spirit of women who played a crucial role in developing weaponry, transportation vehicles, and supplies during times of conflict,” added Rhodes. “By offering ‘The Rosie the Riveter’ cocktail, the bar continues to honor their contributions while providing a unique and immersive experience for patrons.”
