Runway Review: Bridal Fashion Week 2019

The fall Bridal Fashion Week in New York recently wrapped up and fall 2020 collections have a few notable, high-fashion trends. Below the top trends we noticed throughout the week.

Understated
Many designers went for simple, but with beautiful tailoring and targeted design elements. For some, gone were the patterns, extra sparkle and intricate silhouettes. Picking one fabric or a simple silhouette can lend more to the look and highlight a bride’s favorite feature.

Headbands
With many other vintage style reruns, the headband has made a huge comeback in the past year or so. And they are having a big moment in the fashion world. Brides have been looking for a different option from the classic veil, and they have found what they’re looking for in the headband. From floral to pearls, the possibilities are endless.

Tiered skirts
(Kelly here, I love this trend. It feels very ‘70s, whimsical and romantic.) Without forethought, tiered skirts can veer into prairie dress territory, but with the right accessories and hair and makeup, glamour takes hold.

Gathered sleeves
Like tiered skirts, this trend reads vintage. Gathered sleeves create a bubbled affect, which definitely takes the right person to pull off. (Kelly here – I, personally, would pass on this trend for my height and body type, but think it’s on trend and could be perfect for a museum wedding paired with a ball gown or an outdoor farm-chic soirée paired with a simple sheath.)
