Mardi Gras! Superbowl!
In 2010, when the Saints went all the way, the Super Bowl fell right in the middle of Carnival. The cry “Mardi Gras! Super Bowl!” was something of a mantra around our way then and has lingered to crop up from time to time. Seems like we might be heading in that direction again.
For this week, I have created a playlist specifically for getting hyped before the games. This is a blend of Saints music, Carnival music and generally excellent local tunes. This should get anyone in the mood to cheer the Black and Gold.
The Bonnaroo Lineup Two Days Later
On Tuesday Bonnaroo dropped the lineup for the 2018 festival. This year EMINEM, The Killers and Muse will hold the headlining spots. Looking around at the festival scene this year, these headliners are pretty expected. It would be nice to see Bonnaroo reach a bit further afield for the Sunday night spot than Muse. The deeper we get into the lineup the more interesting it gets with performances from Paramore, Alt-J, Dua Lipa, Sheryl Crow(!), Sylvan Esso and Moon Taxi. As I’ve said before, one of the great strengths of Bonnaroo is the ability to draw an incredibly deep field of artists in the smaller fonts. This year they have booked performances by Lany, Thundercat, Mavis Staples, Lissie, Space Jesus, Moses Sumney, First Aid Kit, Japanese Breakfast, CTN and Larkin Poe. There is a tremendous amount of talent on this lineup. It’s always fun to see what summer at The Farm will bring. I’ll bring you more news as things develop.
