The New Orleans Saints are going to consider free-agent possibilities as they deal with the loss of running back Lynell Hamilton(notes) for the season. He went down Wednesday with a torn ACL.
Hamilton was in line to replace the departed Mike Bell(notes) as the club’s short-yardage back. He had one start last season and was quickly growing into the role. The Saints don’t have any experience behind him in P.J. Hill(notes) and Chris Ivory. The duo combined for 15 rushes Thursday night in the preseason opener at New England. Neither really stood out.
