Saltire Rare Malt to Host Whiskey Tasting at Fleming’s Prime Steak House

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Independent Scotch whisky bottler Saltire Rare Malt will host an exclusive whisky tasting in New Orleans on March 30 at Fleming’s Prime Steak House, introducing its rare single malts to one of America’s most celebrated dining cities.

The event will showcase Saltire Rare Malt’s ultra-rare single cask Scotch whiskies through a guided tasting experience that brings together Scotland’s rarest malts with exceptional food and drink.

Guests attending the evening will explore whiskies drawn from celebrated distilleries including Dailuaine, Spey, Ardmore and Tormore, alongside Falkland, the company’s sister Speyside single malt brand. Each whisky offers a distinct expression of its distillery and cask, reflecting the diversity and craftsmanship of Scotland’s whisky regions.

The tasting will take place at Fleming’s Prime Steak House, known for its prime steaks, extensive wine programme and elevated steakhouse experience.

The expansion also builds on Saltire Rare Malt’s growing presence within the Steak House Hall of Fame network across the United States, following a successful launch in 2025. Working in conjunction with the organisation and its Managing Partner Ron Small, the brand is continuing to introduce its rare Scotch whiskies to some of America’s most respected dining institutions, bringing together Scotland’s rarest malts with the country’s celebrated steak house tradition.

The evening will be hosted by Saltire Rare Malt Global Brand Ambassador David McCallum, who will guide guests through the collection while sharing the stories behind each whisky, the distilleries from which they originate and the philosophy behind Saltire Rare Malt’s careful cask selection.

“Saltire Rare Malt was created to celebrate the remarkable diversity of Scotland’s distilleries through exceptional single casks,” said Keith Rennie, co-founder and director of Saltire Rare Malt. “Bringing these whiskies to New Orleans – a city with such an incredible food and drink culture – is incredibly exciting for us. It’s a wonderful opportunity to introduce American whisky lovers to the character, rarity and craftsmanship behind every bottle we release.”

“New Orleans is one of America’s great dining cities, built on tradition, craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to quality – values that mirror the world of fine Scotch whisky,” said Ron Small, managing partner of the Steak House Hall of Fame. “Saltire Rare Malt brings remarkable single cask whiskies to the table, and it’s exciting to see these exceptional spirits introduced in such an iconic culinary setting.”

Founded in Falkland, Fife – the historic birthplace of Scotch whisky more than 530 years ago – Saltire Rare Malt specialises in sourcing exceptional single casks from Scotland’s most respected distilleries and bottling them only when the whisky has reached its peak character.

The Saltire Rare Malt collection is curated by internationally respected whisky experts Hans and Becky Offringa – known as “The Whisky Couple.” Hans, a Whisky Hall of Fame inductee and Keeper of the Quaich, brings more than 35 years of experience, while Becky Lovett Offringa is also a Keeper of the Quaich and acclaimed whisky author. Together they guide cask selection for Saltire Rare Malt – if a sample does not meet their standards, it is simply never bottled.

The New Orleans tasting forms part of the Saltire Rare Malt United States Tour, which also includes events in Dallas, Houston and Sugar Land.

Saltire Rare Malt was founded by lifelong friends Nigel Heywood and Keith Rennie, whose shared passion for collecting rare Scotch whiskies spans more than three decades. Their vision was to create an independent bottler dedicated to sourcing and releasing exceptional single casks that celebrate the diversity and character of Scotland’s whisky regions.

Today the company continues that mission, connecting Scotland’s rarest whiskies with collectors, hospitality partners and whisky enthusiasts around the world while championing the craftsmanship and heritage behind every bottle.
