Sam H. Meyer is the owner of Meyer the Hatter, where for decades, stylish New Orleans gentlemen have bought their hats. Sam's grandfather started the business in 1894. After World War II, Sam and his brother, William, began working full-time with their father in the hat shop and eventually took over the business.
Sam is proud of Meyer the Hatter's distinction as the oldest family-owned hat store in the United States. He explains the origin of the word "Fedora" and describes how Italian opera played a part in the name of this classic style of hat. Listen to the podcast here.
