Today begins the 19th Satchmo SummerFest at the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Mint. As usual this year boast a great selection of food and a diverse musical lineup that represents the best of what New Orleans has to offer. Dorignac’s is joining the festival serving their locally famous version of Armstrong’s favorite red beans and rice. Gulf Tacos is also new this year with pork belly, shrimp and fish tacos. Below are my day by day recommendations for your best musical bets of the weekend. The Friday lineup is especially stacked. Call in sick and head out early. Whatever you do, don’t miss the Trumpet Tribute that closes the festival on Sunday.
