Satsuma Real Estate’s “Building by Boiling” Seafood Cook-Off to Benefit Affordable Housing

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Satsuma Real Estate is proud to announce the return of “Building by Boiling”. This seafood cook-off will benefit People’s Housing+, a New Orleans-based 501(c)3 non-profit that is committed to providing pathways to homeownership for low-and-moderate income New Orleanians. Building by Boiling takes place at NOLA Brewing on Saturday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“New Orleans has been experiencing an affordable housing crisis for many years, and we need organizations like People’s Housing Plus to help solve it,” said Satsuma Real Estate Partner Josh Fogarty. “They work to provide stable, secure, and safe housing for low-moderate income New Orleanians which is critical for keeping families in our city. Plus, when families own their own homes, it allows them to build wealth to pass on to the next generation.”

The first batch of shrimp comes out at 11 a.m. and this year’s music lineup features Flow Tribe and The Original Pinettes Brass Band. It’s a family-friendly event with face painting and snoballs for the kids, and children ten and under get in for free. There will also be a raffle, silent auction and a live auction.

This year’s teams will be competing for three different titles: best shrimp, fan favorite, and most creative. Celebrity judges include Malik Mingo, WWLTV presenter and host of Great Day Louisiana, and local content creator Brittany Nicholas (@whatspoppinnola).

“This is our signature annual fundraiser and it’s also the most fun,” said People’s Housing Plus CEO Oji Alexander. “Our organization has assisted more than 240 New Orleans families become homeowners, and also continue working with them through our stewardship program to ensure they’re able to remain in those homes. Building by Boiling lets people support a great cause and have a great time.”

Tickets are available for purchase online for $40 and also day-of at the door for $55. Each ticket includes access to the event and auctions and all the shrimp you can eat and peel. Kids ten and under get in free.
