Saturday Night (and Day) Social: Pandemic Edition

Though Saturday nights used to look a little different a few months ago, Acadiana is taking precaution to adjust its entertainment industry for the coronavirus era. This week, Saturday is brimming with activity all around Lafayette! Live, local music can be found throughout town, and a drive-in event makes its way to the CAJUNDOME. It’ll be like any other Louisiana Saturday Night – just different.

6/27: Lafayette Farmers’ & Artisans Market: The weekly farmers’ market returns to Moncus Park this Saturday morning from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Gather your groceries from local foragers, farmers and ranchers in nature – at a location in the middle of town. Fresh produce, wares, and the occasional jam happens at the former Horse Farm, so bring an instrument!

6/27: Clayfish Bisque Table Reservations: No, not those kinds of reservations. And not those kinds of tables. Popular pottery painting place Clayfish Bisque, where absolute beginners and experienced hands alike create hand-painted gifts, is taking table reservations for group projects! Bring your vision to life by creating custom items for home décor, mugs, plates, magnets and more! Prices vary depending on the size of the objects painted. Each painted item will be finished in the Clayfish Bisque kiln for you to take home from the shop. For more information, call (337) 991-0120.

6/27: Latino Pulse Farewell Party: This Saturday, Acadiana will celebrate its oft-overlooked Latino culture with Latino Pulse for their last show! El Paso Mexican Grill on Ambassador Caffery Parkway will host Lafayette’s premier salsa act Saturday for a night of dancing. Attendees are encouraged to reserve a table for themselves and their guests for this outdoor performance. The set will take place under the tent to provide maximum safety, and revelers are encouraged to wear masks and protective equipment as needed. The party starts at 8 p.m. and will officially end at 11 p.m.

6/27: CAJUNDOME presents Louisiana Saturday Night: The CAJUNDOME will host a night of movies and music this Saturday! Local arts and food vendors, live music in the all-new Table Room, and performances by students of the School of Rock Lafayette and Wonderland Performing Arts are in store for the evening, as are showings of live exotic animals at the Two by Two Creature Adventures station. This Saturday’s movie is Frozen II! Admission is free. Social distancing measures will be in place, and masks are required.

6/27: Garth Brooks: A Drive-in Concert: As you may have seen, drive-ins are having a comeback across the country in the pandemic era. Garth Brooks, in lieu of performing inside the walls of the CajunDome, will have his live performance outside the CajunDome for a rain-or-shine outdoor screening of his set at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to watch the show from their cars, and concessions will be available for purchase. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.!
