NEW ORLEANS (press release) – A family picnic to raise critical funds for the New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter’s (NOWCS) sheltering and case management programs, Bubbles and Bubbly, presented by Gulf Coast Back & Trust Co., will be a fun day of food, bubbles for adults (champagne and beer) and bubbles for kids (actual bubbles), games, live entertainment and a live auction which includes a chance to bid on a private dinner by Chef Isaac Toups.
Since 2007, the Shelter has helped more than 3,250 parents and their children recovering from homelessness transition to safe, affordable housing. Over the past 12 months, NOWCS was able to serve over 275 people experiencing homelessness, house more than 47 families and serve over 205 people through its post residence case management program.
The only homeless shelter for intact families and the largest homeless shelter for women and children in the metro area, NOWCS has been able to keep its doors open and has had zero cases of COVID among residents amid the ongoing pandemic by adhering strictly to Centers for Disease Control and Louisiana Department of Health guidance and safety protocols. In keeping with those guidelines, the Shelter’s fundraising capabilities have been severely limited since the beginning of 2020. Bubbles and Bubbly provides families an opportunity to enjoy a beautiful picnic at City Park while helping NOWCS in their mission to break the cycle of homelessness, while simultaneously keeping families together, here in the Greater New Orleans region.
