When you think about it, every day is proposal day, but in the grand tradition of National Holidays and excuses to celebrate, today is National Proposal Day.
There’s a national day for just about anything, but these special days give us the opportunity to highlight and honor something we love, or maybe are too obsessed with.
Aside from the exchange of “I Dos,” the proposal is the most romantic moment of a couple’s wedding celebrations. To commemorate one of our favorite days, we’re sharing a few fun facts and a contest giveaway.
Bustle, online news source “for women, by women,” gathered a few interesting facts about proposals around the country.
- They reported that 60 percent of women who get engaged post a ring selfie. While a David’s Bridal survey reported that 37 percent of women post within the hour after getting engaged.
- 81 percent of couples would rather a private proposal than something in the spotlight.
- The average cost of an engagement ring is $4,000, while Match.com reported that 73 percent of people in a recent survey said a single diamond engagement ring is ideal.
- The average engagement is 14 months long.
Once you’re engaged, a flurry of events and planning begins. To help with your bridesmaid “ask,” we’ve partnered with V. Paperie to give away a set of eight “Will you be my bridesmaid?” cards.

The winner with the best story will be announced on Thursday.
