Mia Richeson Scoggin and Minor Pipes Blanc Jahncke first met in the early years of their childhood at Trinity Episcopal School, where they both attended from Pre-K through eighth grade. After graduation from Trinity, Minor went to Newman, and two years later Mia followed.
After college, they were both living in New Orleans. Mia was finishing up her last year of law school, and her study group convinced her to attend a once-in-a-lifetime party thrown by a close mutual friend. Mia isn’t really a shy person, but whenever she was around Minor her shyness came through. As soon as the study group got to the party, Mia’s friends promptly ditched her, and Mia was left alone. Fortunately, Mia spotted Minor out on the dance floor and the two broke through the usual silence and danced for the rest of the party.
About two years later, the day after Christmas, Mia had a rough day at work and was on her way to a yoga class but decided to take a detour to Minor’s apartment. They were sitting on the sofa when Minor suddenly decided he needed to get some water. Mia followed him into the kitchen where he said there was one last stocking stuffer that he forgot to give her on Christmas. Minor got down on one knee and proposed. He even had brought over a ton of outfits for Mia to choose from for their celebratory dinner at Commander’s Palace, where both of their families were waiting for their arrival!
After the wedding, the two spent two weeks on Vieques, a small island in the Caribbean. The two currently live in New Orleans, where Mia is an attorney and Minor works in the Treasury department at Freeport-McMoRan.
