Saturday, April 12, the New Orleans Museum of Art was transformed into a beach oasis for the Sugarplum Ball, a benefit for Children’s Hospital. The theme was “Sea Shells by the Sea Shore” and the museum was decorated with shells of all sizes and colors.
In its 27th year, the fundraiser was a black-tie event, with decorations from King Neptune’s dominion. Featuring a large variety of auction items and cuisine from some of the city’s finest restaurants, the gala began at 7 p.m. Co-chairs were Laura Politz and Beth Favrot and the band Sha’on and the Girls with Success performed.
The Sugarplum Ball, which is Children’s Hospital’s biggest fundraiser of the year, will help fund patient care in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. Children’s Hospital is a 201-bed, nonprofit medical center that offers advanced pediatric care for children from birth to 21 years of age. It is the only full-service hospital exclusively for children in Louisiana and in the Gulf South.
