Sentimental in the Springtime

An internationally recognized historic landmark, Longue Vue House and Gardens has always been a center of important cultural, educational and community movements.

Its annual fundraiser, Sentimental Journeys, was a truly Southern springtime event – with an international flair.

On the evening of Thursday, April 15, patrons met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Heebe, clad in cocktail attire for a stunning patron reception before kicking off the main event, which occurred on April 16 at the Flightline First Hangar at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. Chairs of the event included Shane French, Cindy Weinmann and Diane Zink. Honorary chairs were Mary and O. Miles Pollard. While a number of restaurants pitched in with award-winning cuisine, guests were also entertained by the music: Jonathan Batiste performed at the patron party, and Don Grusin featuring Oscar Castro Neves performed at the main event. Auctioneer Mark Romig kept everyone on their toes, as auction items included trips to such far-flung places as Puerto Rico, islands in the Caribbean, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Morocco, Italy and dozens more exotic locales.

Funds raised from Sentimental Journeys support Longue Vue’s educational programs and community outreach efforts.
