Chef Chris DeBarr is co-owner and chef of Serendipity Restaurant near Faubourg St. John. Before opening Serendipity in early October 2012, DeBarr was with The Green Goddess Restaurant. The chef is as colorful as his food; he enjoys adding surprising culinary twists to his dishes to surprise his guests' palates. In this week's podcast, DeBarr explains the inspirations behind a few of his dishes, including his intriguing version of barbecue shrimp. In another of DeBarr's unexpected surprises, the familiar Mediterranean sweet, baklava, becomes a savory entree: Creole curried lamb baklava. Serendipity is one block off of Bayou St. John on Orleans Avenue in the American Can building. Listen to the podcast.
