Sheriff Gusman To Host 45th Annual Thanksgiving Day Celebration For New Orleans Community

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman encourages the New Orleans community to join him for the 45th annual Sheriff’s Thanksgiving Day Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A holiday favorite, the event will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in Hall I-2. The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office will join local volunteers to come together in service and gratitude for this year’s festive celebration.

The highly-anticipated dinner will feature exquisite holiday cuisine and will be led by Master of Ceremonies Julius Feltus, Senior Advisor to Mayor LaToya Cantrell. Grammy Award winning artist Irma Thomas will perform once again along with even more live performances by artists including Leo Nocentelli, Rockin’ Doopsie, James Andrews, Earl Smith with house band, Michael Ward, Chucky C, Rochelle Cook and band, Naydja Cojoe, Joe Cea, Jamal Batiste Band and Big Frank and Little Frank.

“For 45 years now, this event has served as opportunity for the community to come together in thanksgiving and celebrate our rich culture and traditions,” said Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman. “Memories of this event are cherished by many and would not have been possible without the continued support of our sponsors, volunteers and community members that celebrate with us for decades.”

Those interested in participating as volunteers are encouraged to pre-register online at www.opso.us and may report to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Thanksgiving Day between 9 – 9:30 a.m. Volunteers will be awarded four hours of community service for their cooperation. Those in need of a ride to the event may call the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office at (504) 202-9215.
