Shop of the Two Sisters, owned by Lee Ali and Rose Ali, was established in 1994 and sells all manner of home furnishings, including upholstery, furniture, antiques and vintage pieces, lighting, throw pillows, artwork, accessories and area rugs. “We provide full interior design service,” says Lee, who is licensed as an interior designer and is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. “Our style and quality are really evident. Things seem enduring.”
What’s the first thing you discuss with a client?
We try to get to know them a bit first to be certain that we will all be comfortable working together. We establish what it is they want from us, and then we set about to provide it.
What’s one of your goals as a retailer?
Keeping our environment inviting and stimulating. We want to provide pieces that will endure in terms of look as well as quality.
What’s one of your most popular items right now?
Our lighting is always remarked upon. People also love the opulence and style of our upholstery.
How has your business evolved or changed over the years?
We opened on our original location on Royal Street. Our Magazine Street shop has allowed us the room to expand and carry more furniture lines as well as area rugs. It’s afforded us the space to house our design studio in-house.
What specials do you have going on this month?
Our Winter Clearance Sale will run through February.
