Cocktails are a party staple, second only (maybe) to what’s on the menu – especially in New Orleans. A steady trend in the wedding world is to pair your wedding-related event with a signature cocktail.
Though we suggest not going off the rails with your cocktail choice, it can be nice to offer guests a specially prepared cocktail that fits the season and the event, while also offering the usual wine, beer and other libations.
Each month, the New Orleans Bride Magazine sister publication New Orleans Magazine (NOM) provides readers with a cocktail recipe perfect to enjoy that month. This month, resident NOM cocktail expert Tim McNally provides the recipe for a martini we think would fit right in with any upcoming engagement party, gathering of wedding guests or just simple date night at home during these hot summer months.
Cucumber Basil Martini
- 2 oz. St. Roch Vodka
- 0.75 oz. Thatcher’s Cucumber Liquor
- 0.05 oz. simple syrup
- 0.5 fresh lime squeezed
- 2 torn basil leaves
- Combine all ingredients except the basil.
- Depending on your preference, the drink is either shaken with the slightest touch of ice, or stirred in a very cold bar glass, then poured into a chilled coupe. James Bond is envious.
- Add basil for garnish.
