Sippin Under the Oaks with Friends of Jefferson the Beautiful

Sometimes, a party setting tells a story. On Oct. 6, the beautiful home and garden of Tricia and Lewis Stirling became an essential element for Friends of Jefferson the Beautiful’s Sippin Under the Oaks.

The art-filled residence and the garden party ambiance illustrated the purpose of the organization — supporting the beautification and the tree canopy projects of Jefferson Parish.

Upon arrival, supporters were handed champagne and could savor a selection of passed hors d’oeuvres and buffet stations with caviar deviled eggs, jumbo Gulf shrimp, tuna tartare, petit chicken salad croissants, among other delicacies from Martin Wine Cellar.
The auction, which featured work by Demond Matuso, Amanda Stone Talley and Kevin Gillentine, brought in high bids.

The next day, the organization hosted the 25th Carey Hammett Tree School, chaired by Lee Stansberry, featuring local and national speakers, including International Society of Arboriculture, Southern Chapter Executive Director Skip Kincaid, Emilie Taylor Welty, among others, and Peter Waring as the master of ceremonies.
