King Cakes are gone from the shelves. Valentine’s candies have been consumed. And Gold Brick Eggs, Peeps and chocolate bunnies haven’t quite made their debut. Luckily, Girl Scout cookies, which went on sale in the Greater New Orleans area in late January, should be arriving any day now. For those not content to eat the cookies straight from the box (in pajama pants on the sofa), the Internet provides recipes for decadent desserts such as Peanut Butter Patty pie and — my personal favorite — Samoa Bread Pudding. (New Orleanians knew Samoas as Caramel DeLites for years.) If you didn’t preorder, you can buy the cookies directly from Girl Scouts this month at booths around the city or by calling 733-8220. It’s rare that helping the community is as easy as eating a cookie, so don’t miss your chance!
