The 17th annual “Sneak Peek” Portraits of Poydras patron party held on Friday, November 11, brought 300 guests together in support of Poydras Home and the arts. Since its establishment in 1817, Poydras Home has made an impact on the lives of locals. Pioneering programs and high-quality care have earned the nonprofit national recognition from organizations including the American Heart Association, Leading Age and the Alzheimer’s Association, and it’s the only full continuum care community with a specialized Alzheimer’s Unit and adult day program in the area.
Attendees, who ventured to the historic building on Magazine Street for the event, were welcomed with art and photography exhibitions,
plenty of scrumptious food, the music of Deacon John and the Ivories and the opportunity to place bids on stunning art pieces created by Kevin Gillentine, Michalopoulos, Cleland Powell, George Schmidt and more during the silent auction.
The evening’s affairs yielded nothing short of success for the beloved organization’s projects. Over $115,000 was raised for the Poydras Home’s new Wellness and Therapy Center. Funds raised also help to satisfy the needs of residents annually. The “Sneak Peak” was sure to get supporters excited for the Art Show featuring fine arts and crafts taking place in the days following that weekend.
