The New Orleans Film Society not only knows how to put on great shows, but also has a knack for throwing a kickoff party sure to get New Orleans film enthusiasts excited for the New Orleans Film Festival. This year’s 22nd annual gala at Eiffel Society brought patrons and supporters together on September 29 for a patron party and gala, including the presentation of the Celluloid Hero Awards.
The party not only offered guests a glimpse of what to expect at the then-upcoming Film Festival with sneak peaks, but also included premium cocktails prepared by mixologist Dallas Ray, hors d’oeuvres by chef Elizabeth Blanche, a live auction, musical acts and the “Celluloid Hero” award presentation.
New Orleans resident and well-known actor, John Goodman, was this year’s award recipient. Goodman has played roles in “Treme,” The Princess and the Frog and many more. Each year, the award is given out to those who have provided an exceptional service to motion pictures.
Proceeds raised at the kickoff benefit the Film Society, which celebrates the art of motion pictures by hosting events including French and Italian Film Festivals, the New Orleans International Children’s Film Festival and more.
