NEW ORLEANS (press release) – This past Friday, November 5th, a new comedy open-mic event added a lot more laughter, excitement, and presence to the growing New Orleans comedy scene – especially with a former Saturday Night Live cast member joining in on the fun.
At the launch event for “Raw Dog Comedy,” a brand-new show hosted by New Orleans native and stand-up comedian, Ryan Rogers, more than 25 comics performed to a crowd of nearly 100 patrons. The special guest star was Luke Null, an alum of SNL’s 43rd season; and the featured comic was Tasha Riley, a local comedian, writer & producer.
“We’re on a mission to help make New Orleans a global comedy destination,” said Rogers. “Raw Dog Comedy encourages first-time comics and industry vets to test new material, get better, and have fun! Witnessing the success of the first event was both encouraging and exciting – especially with having a culturally-diverse lineup and a wildly enthusiastic audience on our hands. Our venue, Ugly Dog Saloon, partners with us to cultivate a safe space & foster community.”
Raw Dog Comedy serves as the only Friday night comedy open-mic event in the city. Join us!
Raw Dog Comedy happens every Friday night at Ugly Dog Saloon, 401 Andrew Higgins Dr, New Orleans, LA 70130. Open mic sign-up begins at 7:30, and the show begins at 8 p.m.
