Liz Williams is president of the SOFAB Institute. Located in the former Dryades Street Market building, the Institute uses exhibits, programs, and various media to document and celebrate the food and drink of all cultures. The growing organization now encompasses several food and drink related areas, including a museum and an online food research site. According to Liz, opening a food museum was more difficult than opening a traditional art museum because people are familiar with art museums; however, they have no idea about what a food museum is or can be. Liz believes that SOFAB will be an incentive for visitors to extend their stays to visit this new attraction that celebrates all aspects of food and drink. Formally located in the Riverwalk, SOFAB is now at 1504 Oretha C. Haley Boulevard in New Orleans. The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting will be on September 29, 2014 at 1:00PM. The public is cordially invited.
