Son of a Saint, The Silverback Society, 100 Black Men of Metro New Orleans, Inc., and Reaching for the Stars to Host Mentorship Recruitment Brunch event on March 12

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – A coalition of Black-led New Orleans nonprofit organizations, including Son of a Saint, The Silverback Society, 100 Black Men of Metro New Orleans, Inc., and Reaching for the Stars, will host its first ever mentorship recruitment brunch on Saturday, March 12. The Greater New Orleans Mentorship Collaborative For Young Men and Boys (Greater New Orleans Mentorship Collaborative) event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Radiant Event Hall & Patio, located in New Orleans East at 5800 Bullard Ave. The event is free and open to the public with limited space available. RSVP via Eventbrite is required.

The informational recruitment event will feature a brunch menu, giveaways, and dedicated networking opportunities, all facilitated by the leadership and respective team members from each host organization. More importantly, the occasion will allow attendees and participants interested in mentoring young men to learn more about the amazing impact mentoring can have on a child’s life, their academic potential, and their future career trajectory.

Together, the nonprofits of the Greater New Orleans Mentorship Collaborative have defined a shared mission to strengthen the recruitment and retention pipeline for effective mentors throughout the local community. Through the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation’s Angels of Change investment of $250,000 in 2021, the group continues to contribute as a thought leader in the mentorship space, providing support, best practices, and resources for new and existing youth mentoring programs. The organizations are united by the common goal of better serving New Orleans’ young men.

The Angels of Change investment will help increase the accessibility, consistency, and quality of mentoring programs for young men in New Orleans. Angels of Change grants are made to coalitions of previous Angel Honorees and their partners, working together to address the systemic health and quality of life issues impacting Louisiana’s children.
