NEW ORLEANS (press release) – In the 1870’s, Madame Begue invented the meal “brunch” for New Orleans’ working people who finished their shifts after traditional breakfast hours, but before lunch hours began. Since then, brunch has become a cultural sensation, bringing people together from around the world to enjoy a festive weekend meal.
In honor of this grand brunch tradition, the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB) will invite guests to join in the celebration October 2021 with Brunch Month – a brand new brunch exhibit, along with a weekly series of brunch pop-ups hosted by some of New Orleans’ renowned Chefs and personalities. Priced at $60 per person, the three-course brunch (unless otherwise noted below) includes tax and gratuity (excluding alcohol). Lineup follows:
Sunday, 10/3 – Drag Brunch hosted by Poppy Tooker, featuring dishes by Chef Jason Goodenough (Carrolton Market)
Saturday, 10/16 –Filipino Kamyan Brunch, featuring Cristina Quackenbush (Milkfish) *Four Courses
Saturday, 10/23 – Barrow’s Beyond Catfish, featuring the team from Barrow’s Catfish
Saturday, 10/30 – Halloween Boehme Brunch, featuring Colleen Allerton and Camille Staub of Luncheon
Guests can enjoy a la carte classic brunch cocktails and punches from Eve Marie Haydel, SoFAB Board Member and Bar Director for Dooky Chase’s Restaurant. Kitchen partner is Tabasco® and Bar Sponsor is Wickles Pickles.
