Celebrating a half-century of ministry, the Cenacle Retreat House held a Jubilee Gala at the Basin Street Station on March 8. Nearly 110 guests attended and perused the historical exhibits while checking out silent auction items. Many also purchased tickets to the raffle of the evening, which offered a chance to win the “Ultimate New Orleans Gift Package,” valued at over $3,000. Dinner, catered by Michael’s Catering, took place on the fourth floor of the building and entertainment was provided by Nouvelle Orleans Jazz. Chaired by Deacon and Mrs. William Glennon (Susan), the party was a lovely tribute to the Cenacle Retreat House – the brainchild of a group of New Orleans ladies who wanted a retreat house similar to Manresa, where their husbands attended retreats. Once they had raised enough money, the Cenacle Sisters (an order of the Catholic Sisters), were contacted to operate the facility. Yearly, this Metairie-based center serves approximately 14,000 people with retreats, prayer enrollment and spiritual direction.
